Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup butter softened, divided
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 cups fresh peaches washed and sliced with skins on.
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Optional: Whipped Cream

Instructions
 

  •  Line a 9″ round cake pan with parchment paper.
  • 2. Melt 1/4 cup butter and pour into the cake pan.
  • 3. Mix the brown sugar and the nutmeg in a small bowl and sprinkle the mixture over the melted butter.
  • 4.  Arrange the sweet peach slices in single layer over brown sugar mixture.
  • 5.  In a large bowl, cream sugar and remaining butter until they are light and fluffy.
  • 6. Beat in the egg and the vanilla.
  • 7. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 8. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
  • 9. Carefully spoon the batter over the peaches.
  • 10. Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • 11. Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto cake plate.
  • 12. Slice and serve with whipped cream.
