Southern Buttermilk Apple Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup apples peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup butter cold unsalted
  • cups sharp white Cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup buttermilk whole

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 450°.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Using your fingertips, snap the cold butter into flour mixture until crumbly.
  • Add the buttermilk, cheese, and chopped apples, stirring just until combined.
  • Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick circle. Cut out biscuits using a circular biscuit cutter. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Bake until golden brown, 18 to 20 minutes.
  • Serve warm with honey and butter.
