SASSY SUMMER SALSA!

Recently my dear friend Jonelle brought a huge container of her famous salsa for a fire pit party. It is a SHOW-STOPPER! JUST DELICIOUS!

My husband and I were thrilled to find a small bit left in the container when the party ended. Between the two of us, it didn’t take long for it to disappear. The next day I called her to thank her for bringing it over and to tell her how fantastic it was.

When sharing what was in her recipe, Jonelle explained to me that there is really no recipe for her masterpiece, it is just something she makes. I suppose it would be like asking me to tell you how I make a fluffy southern buttermilk biscuit. I have no recipe or fluffy trick, it is just something I make. Isn’t it interesting how we pick up “just what you do” traits from the cultures in which we were raised? One of my favorite things about being an Army wife are all the talents of my Army Sisters. Some of you may have read in my bio, the name of this blog was inspired by the talents of friends in my life. Every single one has an inner “SPARKLE” that inspires and ‘charms me to death. (A southern saying meaning: they are so talented I can hardly stand it.) Sparkling Charm! I simply love it!

Jonelle’s homemade recipe brought back fond memories of a Fresh  Garden Salsa my mama made while spending summer weekends at our river home on the Flint River in Georgia. My husband reminded me that I have not made it in years.

Encouraged by my sweetheart!

Memories of my mama and days on the Flint River!

Inspired by my dear friend Jonelle!

Today I am sharing my personal version of my mother’s salsa.
