Apple Slice Donuts, Eat Pretty!
These small bites aren’t just pretty to eat. They are perfect for a brunch, an after school snack, pj party food, or a quick…”OH MY GOSH I NEED A SNACK, SNACK! “
A few weeks ago while slicing and coring an apple, I thought to myself, “This really looks like a donut!” …And my brain spiraled to the endless topping possibilities from there. Today I am making these for my dear neighbor Kimberlee’s 4th Annual Autumn Brunch.
I hope you will give this simple “APPLE SLICE DONUTS, EAT PRETTY!” recipe a try!
Sparkle! Sparkle! XX-gwyn
3 large Honey Crisp apples, washed, cored, and sliced crosswise
cream cheese, softened
1 lemon, sliced in half
These are the toppings you see in the photos. The possibilities are endless! GET CREATIVE!
kiwi berries (the little green berry in the photos)
mini chocolate chips
candy coated sunflower seeds
dried banana chips
dried golden raisins
Wash and core the apples. Slice the apples crosswise as evenly as possible. I got 4 slices from each apple and snacked on the ends. Rub a sliced lemon across the apple slices. Pat the slices with a paper towel. This will help the spreads to adhere better.
With the back of a spoon, spread on the peanut butter, hazelnut spread, and the cream cheese onto the apple slice. I did four of each.
Time for the fun. Decorate the apples with the toppings.
I sure do hope you enjoy these as much as my friends and family did. They really are delicious!
